Superb performance by Odisha all-rounder Sushree Dibyadarshini Pradhan propelled East Zone to a thrilling one-wicket win over North Zone in a league match of the Under-23 Womens Inter-Zonal One-day Limited Overs Tournament at GSFC Cricket Ground in Vadodara today.
Put into bat by East Zone captain Riju Saha, North Zone rode on a half-century by Taniya Bhatia to muster a healthy total of 183 for seven. East Zone overhauled the target in 49.3 overs, losing nine wickets in the process.
Sushree played stellar role in the East Zone win, hitting an unbeaten 40 off 50 balls and taking two wickets for 40 runs with her off-spin bowling. Odisha opening bowler Reemalaxmi Ekka also made notable contribution for the win, bagging two wickets for 26 runs.
Jharkhand all-rounder Durga Kumari Murmu shone with both bat and ball, taking two wickets and scoring 39 runs. Anjali Singh was the third Odisha player to feature in the match and made a modest 15 with the bat.
BRIEF SCORE: North Zone 183/7 in 50 overs (Taniya Bhatia 50, H Deol 31, S Gulia 30, N Chauhan 27, S Rana 21; Reemalaxmi Ekka 2/26, Durga Kumari Murmu 2/29, Sushree Dibyadarshini 2/40) lost to East Zone 184/9 in 49.3 overs (Sushree Dibyadarshini 40 n.o, Durga Kumari Murmu 39, Parna Paul 35; R Singh 3/30, Ayushi Soni 2/16) by 1 wkt.
